You are in the right place.

Weight loss can be confusing but it doesn’t have to be anymore. Are you thinking about losing weight but don’t know where to begin? Perhaps you are considering throwing in the towel because the scales have stopped moving in the right direction. Or could it be that you have lost weight on and off, but each time it comes back plus some?

Maybe you are on the right track but just looking for some inspiration to keep you going. It matters not where you are at right now. If this is you, you belong here and I am here for you. I am passionate about weight loss and fitness.

This passion developed following years of wandering in the weight loss wilderness, but eventually coming out the other side. I had often wondered whether there were people like me facing the same weight loss struggles. Since then, the thought of sharing my experiences and knowledge I have gained has always been in my head. That’s how Weight Loss Brigade was born.

So, What’s in it for you?

My commitment is to help you lose weight and keep it off. So I will be sharing useful information and tips to help you do just that. This will be the strong foundation and roadmap that will lead you to your weight loss goal.

Practice these, and not only will you lose weight, but it will be in a healthy, balanced, simple, realistic and sustainable way. Most importantly, you can tailor what you learn on here to suit your needs and circumstances. Now, this is important for sustenance because when it comes to weight loss, there is no one size fits all.

The knowledge you gain on here will give you the power you need to make healthy food choices and stay in control of your diet. You will be able to identify and steer clear of weight loss misinformation, unrealistic promises, temporary quick fixes, useless diet fads and trends, to name a few. If you have the desire and discipline, you will from then on, be heading towards your weight loss goal.

How do I know all this?

Because I too have experienced like what you are experiencing right now. In 2014 I was at my heaviest weighing in at 105kg. This was bad news on a frame of 5ft 2.5in. Several years had seen me through a fair share of diet failures that preceded success.

Each failure brought in an increased level of frustration and hopelessness. I was caught up in a vicious cycle of overeating, severe calorie restriction and sleepwalking into the next diet without any strategy or knowledge. Each time coming back bigger but not wiser and driven further from my goal.

It was when I developed weight related health issues that I realised how deep in trouble I was. It dawned on me then that my health was threatening to leave me because I had ignored it for so long.

My GP clearly spelt the risks out for me. This was the wakeup call that I needed. My life had to change. It was time to act.

What else do I do?…in brief.

Not only did I go on to lose 40kg over a period of 2years, I started a hobby that I enjoy and helps me keep fit. I am a member of the ABPU (Amateur British Powerlifting Union) and competitively powerlift. Being twice the British Powerlifting Champion and the 2018 Amateur World Powerlifting Champion in my category gives joy and a great sense of achievement. Now, at 57, I feel healthier, fitter stronger with a better shape than I was in my 20s and 30s.

My professional and personal pursuits involve 2 extremes. I am a Neonatal Intensive Care Sister by profession and a non-practicing midwife. So, I go from taking care of the tiniest most vulnerable members of our society requiring round the clock care and can weigh as little as 500g, to deadlifting 140kg in my personal life.
